European Parliament includes the Armenian Genocide and genocide denials in the EU’s Human Rights policyToday, on 12 March, the European Parliament has adopted the Annual Report on Human Rights and Democracy in the world 2013. Several clauses of this document are relevant to Armenia, especially the paragraph that “calls, ahead of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide, on all the Member States to acknowledge it, and encourages the Member States and the EU institutions to contribute further to its recognition.”
At its Federal Assembly 2014, the European Movement International adopted a resolution on the reform of electoral law and the rules governing European political parties. As a follow-up to the EMI resolution and the discussion on electoral law reform in AFCO on Tuesday 17 March, a background briefing on Electoral Reform has been prepared which summarises the discussion in the AFCO Committee and gives some background to the role of the Parliament in electoral reform.
