On 25 March 2017 the European Movement International marked the 60th anniversary of the Rome Treaty, using it as an opportunity to renew support for the European project and craft a way forward for our Union.

What we are planning in Rome

Forum on the Future of Europe
On the morning of 25 March we held political forum together with our members UEF and JEF and for our members, gathering personalities from politics, civil society and culture. We wanted to create an open space where our members can share ideas about the future of Europe. The discussion featured personalities from politics, civil society, academia and intellectuals and functioned as a forum for debate on the direction our Union should take. The forum took place at the Centro Congressi Roma Eventi (Piazza di Spagna), Via Alibert 5A, Rome.

March for Europe
The debate was followed by the March for Europe, which was joined by citizens from across Europe, as a symbolic act of public support and action for the European ideal, under so much challenge today. This march celebrated the values that underpin the European ideal and called for their defence and for their re-enforcement. We have the whole year to be constructive critics of the EU’s shortcomings. Therefore, we wanted to take just one day to say that the idea of Europe is worth marching for.
