ALDE: Rik Daems elected new ALDE-PACE President

On 9 October, the members of the ALDE Group in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (ALDE-PACE) elected Rik Daems as the new group leader, following the resignation of Jordi Xuclà.

Rik Daems was until now one of the Vice Presidents of the ALDE-PACE.

Commenting on Rik Daems’ election, ALDE Party President Hans van Baalen MEP said: “I would like to congratulate Rik Daems on his election today as the leader of the ALDE Group in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (ALDE-PACE). I wish him the best of luck in the role, and as President of the ALDE Party I look forward to working with him to maintain the close cooperation and relations between the ALDE Party and its groupings in the respective Parliamentary Assemblies.”

The ALDE Group in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe has 65 members.
