This week, the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the EU will hold informal meetings in Budapest to present its priorities, while multiple European Parliament’s committees will convene and meet in Brussels to debate and vote on several issues. On Monday, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will be in Slovenia. Together with Prime Minister Robert Golob, she'll visit the reconstruction of the August 2023 flooded areas, and deliver a keynote speech at the Bled Strategic Forum.
European Parliament
On Wednesday, the Committee on Development (DEVE) will exchange views with Jutta Urpilainen, Commissioner for International Partnerships, and with Janez Lenarčič, Commissioner for Crisis Management. On the same day, the Committee on Culture and Education (CULT) will exchange views with Pia Ahrenkilde Hansen, European Commission’s Director-General of DG EAC, and with Roberto Viola, European Commission’s Director-General of DG CNECT.
Council of Ministers
On Monday and Tuesday, the Hungarian Presidency will hold an informal meeting of the General Affairs Council in Budapest. Ministers will discuss boosting the EU’s competitiveness and tackling demographic challenges. On Thursday and Friday, the Presidency will host an informal meeting of the EU Ministers in charge of Cohesion Policy to address how Cohesion Policy can take its part in managing demographic challenges.
European Commission and High Representative
On Monday, Commissioner Janusz Wojciechowski will be in Cyprus to meet with Dr Maria Panayiotou, Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment of Cyprus, while on Thursday Commissioner Didier Reynders will be in Vilnius to participate in the Informal Conference of the Ministers of Justice of the Council of Europe. On Friday, Commissioner Johannes Hahn will hold a meeting with Alexander Schallenberg, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Austria.
