The hearings will start on 4 November and take place until 12 November. On Tuesday, the Economic and Financial Affairs Council will gather ministers to seek a political agreement on a package of legislation on value added tax (VAT) in the digital age. European Parliament

From 4-12 November, the European Parliament invites Commissioners-designate to appear before the appropriate committees for hearings in order to scrutinise if they are suitable for the posts they have been assigned to. Depending on the portfolio, a Commissioner-designate can be assessed by one parliamentary committee (committee responsible) or by more than one committee (joint committees). Other committees may be invited to participate, meaning they can contribute with oral questions while the final evaluation of candidates lies with the coordinators of the committee(s) responsible.

European Council

On Friday, the informal meeting of the European Council will take place in Budapest.

Council of Ministers

On Tuesday, the Economic and Financial Affairs Council will gather ministers to seek a political agreement on a package of legislation on value added tax (VAT) in the digital age. Ministers will also take stock of the implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) and be informed of the state of play of the economic and financial impact of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

European Commission and High Representative

Commissioner Joseph Borrell will co-chair the European Union-Republic of Korea Strategic Dialogue with Cho Tae-yul, Minister for Foreign Affairs, in the Republic of Korea. On Friday, President Ursula von der Leyen will participate in the informal meeting of the members of the European Council in Budapest. On the same day, Commissioner Didier Reynders will participate in the graduation ceremony of the Brussels School of Competition in Brussels.
