Weekly European Agenda 07/07/2025
This week, Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) will gather in Strasbourg for plenary debates and votes on several issues, including on EU-China relations. On Tuesday, EU Commissioners will gather in Strasbourg to unveil four new initiatives: the 2025 Annual Rule of Law Report, the Chemicals package, the EU Stockpiling Strategy and the Strategy to support medical countermeasures against public health threats. On the same day, ministers in the Economic and Financial Affairs Council are expected to adopt the final legislative acts that pave the way for Bulgaria to become a member of the euro area and to begin using the euro as its official currency as of 1 January 2026.
European Parliament
On Monday, MEPs will have a debate on a motion of censure on the European Commission. On Tuesday, they will receive a presentation of of the programme of activities of the Danish Presidency. On Wednesday, MEPs will have a debate on lessons from Budapest Pride and the urgent need for an EU wide anti-discrimination law and defending fundamental rights against right wing attacks.
Council of Ministers
On Tuesday, ministers in the Economic and Financial Affairs Council are expected to adopt the final legislative acts that pave the way for Bulgaria to become a member of the euro area and to begin using the euro as its official currency as of 1 January 2026. On Thursday and Friday, the Danish Presidency will host the informal meeting of environment ministers.
European Commission and High Representative
On Monday, Commissioner Jessika Roswall will meet with Kata Tüttő, President of the European Committee of the Regions, in Brussels. On Friday, Commissioner Ekaterina Zaharieva will deliver a keynote speech at the Ukraine Recovery Conference Forum, in Rome. On the same day, Commissioner Valdis Domborvskis will meet with Georgia Meloni, Prime Minister of Italy, in Rome.
