Weekly European Agenda 08/12/2025
This week, multiple European Parliament’s committee meetings will take place in Brussels to debate and vote on several issues. On Tuesday, ministers in the Justice and Home Affairs Council will exchange views on the fight against impunity regarding crimes committed in Ukraine. Ministers will discuss the cooperation of EU Member States with the planned Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine as well as the support to the international criminal court. On Wednesday, EU Commissioners will gather in Brussels to unveil several new initiatives: the Environmental Omnibus, the European Grids package, the Clean Industrial Deal implementation package and the Automotive package.
European Parliament
On Monday, the Special committee on the European Democracy Shield (EUDS) will have an exchange of views on Gulf states’ funding of political and religious networks in the EU. On the same day, the Committee on Public Health (SANT) will have an exchange of views with Americo Zampetti on updates on the negotiations on the Annex to Pandemic Agreement on Access and Benefit sharing. On Wednesday, the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) will have a public hearing on illegal settlements in the West Bank.
Council of Ministers
On Monday, ministers in the Competitiveness Council will hold a policy debate on how to ensure better surveillance of products sold via e-commerce products, at the request of the French delegation. On Thursday and Friday, the Agriculture and Fisheries Council will hold a policy debate on the post-2027 common agricultural policy proposals on innovation and simplification. On the same days, together with Ukraine, the Danish EU Presidency will host an informal meeting of ministers for European Affairs in Lviv, Ukraine.
European Commission and High Representative
On Monday, Executive Vice-President Henna Virkkunen will join the G7 Industry, Digital and Technology Ministers' Meeting 2025, in Montréal. On the same day, Commissioner Andrius Kubilius will receive Andrzej Domanski, Minister for Finance and Economy of Poland, in Brussels. On Tuesday, High Representative Vice-President Kaja Kallas will meet Volker Türk, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, in Brussels.
