Democracy Table, Texel – Listen to Europe
Ahead of the European Parliament elections, the European Movement International together with a group of researchers led by Matthew MacWilliams, and with the support of the Open Society Initiative for Europe, conducted a poll (fielded by YouGov) on the drivers of behaviours and attitudes of citizens in 13 European Union member states (representing 75% of the membership of the European Parliament) towards democracy and authoritarianism.
As soon as results of the poll were analysed and ready, a Democracy Table was held in Den Burg, on Texel (NL) on 11 April, from 14.00 to 17.00 with the intention to disseminate the findings of our research.
The purpose of the roundtable meeting was to
1. Share the polling results, country report and segmentation
2. Present message frames that can be derived from the polling
3. Discuss audience building, communications and campaigns
The ‘Democracy Table’ was aimed at NGOs and other organisations who want to equip their campaigns, shape their communications and test their narratives.
