European Movement Germany President on EU Citizen’s Dialogues: “Time is Short”
Last week, European Movement Germany President Linn Selle spoke at the Foreign Office on the implementation of Citizen’s Dialogues in Germany.
Ms Selle praised the encouragement of European debate, and emphasised that the member organisations of the largest European political network are in constant dialogue on European affairs. The European Movement Germany President stated that the Citizen’s Dialogues have promoted a long overdue discussion on the Future of Europe, but “time is short”.
For the European Movement Germany, citizen’s dialogues are an important instrument of public participation and feedback between citizens and political decision-makers. Ms Selle reiterated her support for the efforts of the German Government in this regard, but also warned that citizen’s dialogues may provoke disappointment and frustration if the Government’s dialogue does not deliver on its promises.
