The European Movement International welcomes the election of Ursula von der Leyen
The European Movement International congratulates Ursula von der Leyen on her election as next President of the European Commission. As the first ever woman to hold this position, her election sends a positive message to women across Europe. To this end, we very much welcome her intentions to ensure gender equality among the College of Commissioners and support her ambitions in advancing European cooperation in areas such as environmental protection, rule of law, migration and social rights. Only through cooperation and common solutions can we be successful in addressing the challenges that lie ahead and deliver a stronger and more united Europe that empowers citizens from all walks of life.
Eva Maydell MEP, President of the European Movement International says: “The European Parliament has made history by electing Ursula von der Leyen as the first ever woman to head the European Commission.
