Communications Assistant
Paid Internship
Start date: mid-May.
Full time position (6 months) based in the European Movement International office, Brussels.
The European Movement International (EMI) works to promote democracy and strengthen civil society. It is a pan-European network present in 30 countries and encompassing over 70 member organisations. The role of communications assistant (intern) is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of the EU and contribute to our core communication activities, including the implementation of key projects and outreach activities. To perform the role, you will get great insights into the optimisation of political communications, audience development, and the use of attitudinal data, as well as be in contact with a variety of civil society organisations, and much more. We are seeking a highly motivated, driven young professional to join our fun, dedicated, and multinational team at our office on Place Luxembourg.
The Job
- Assist in the development of communication activities and in the delivery of long-running projects.
- Assist in the management of the EMI’s social media accounts and digital presence.
- Assist in the visual design of communication activities, including social media.
- Draft, edit and proof-read materials, including reports, briefings, and opinion articles.
- Contribute to creative brainstorming for related project activities and outreach.
- Contribute to the coordination and flow of information between a wide variety of stakeholders.
Other Tasks
- Help keep the EMI and other project websites up to date with relevant resources and materials.
- Help compile documents with relevant information for project stakeholders.
- Actively contribute to team meetings and planning processes.
- Support other team members and stand in where necessary.
- Knowledge and skills
Essential
- A demonstrated commitment to the core EMI values.
- Experience in the field of content creation (images, videos etc.).
- The ability to write clear, easy-to-understand texts.
- Strong organisational skills, and excellent eye for design and detail.
- (Near) native standard command of the English language.
- Ability to effectively reach out and gather information from third parties.
- Confident and independent worker.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Robust design skills and familiarity with Canva, Adobe and/or other design software.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
Desirable
- Strong French language skills.
- Knowledge of the EU and the EU institutions.
- Knowledge of website CMS (WordPress).
- Knowledge of other European Languages.
