Jean-Marie Cavada Vice-President
Starting his career as a journalist at the ORTF, the French national public television and radio provider, Mr Cavada then proceeded to take on roles as News Presenter and World Affairs Editor at France 2, Editor-in-Chief at RTL radio, and News Director at TF1.
From 1989 to 1999, he produced and presented “La Marche du Siècle” on French TV, a debate programme that went down in the history of French television. Following this he was Executive Manager of La Cinquième (France 5) from 1993 to 1997, and went on to become head of Radio France, the French public service radio broadcaster.
In 2004 he was elected to the European Parliament, joining the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE), where he is currently Vice President of the Committee on Legal Affairs and substitute member of the committee of Culture and Education. Previously, he has chaired both the LIBE Committee and was President of the MEDIA intergroup. In addition, he has been President of the European Movement France since December 2011.
