Weekly European Agenda 06/10/2025

This week, Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) will gather in Strasbourg for plenary debates and votes on several issues, including on a motion of censure on the European Commission. On Tuesday, EU Commissioners will gather in Strasbourg to unveil three new initiatives: The AI package, addressing the effects of global overcapacity on the EU steel market and the new equality strategy for LGBTIQ. On Friday, ministers in the Economic and Financial Affairs Council are expected to exchange views on the Commission’s recent proposals to update the system of own resources for the EU budget.



European Parliament

On Tuesday, MEPs will have a debate on the EU’s role in supporting the recent peace efforts for Gaza and a two-state solution On Wednesday, they will receive an address by Jens-Frederik Nielsen, Prime Minister of Greenland. On Thursday, MEPs will vote on a resolution on Russian violations of the EU Member States’ airspace and critical infrastructure. 

Council of Ministers

On Thursday and Friday, the Danish Presidency will host the informal meeting of ministers for telecommunication. On Friday, ministers in the Economic and Financial Affairs Council are expected to exchange views on the Commission’s recent proposals to update the system of own resources for the EU budget.  

European Commission and High Representative

On Monday, High Representative Vice-President Kaja Kallas will attend the EU GCC Joint Ministerial Council, in Kuwait City. On Thursday, Commissioner Andrius Kubilius will meet with Edgars Rinkēvičs, President of Latvia, in Riga. On Friday, Commissioner Hadja Lahbib will meet Cesar Bernardo Arévalo de León, President of Guatemala, in Brussels.
