About
European Movement Finland, the European Movement International, and the Finnish Institute of International Affairs are pleased to invite you to the ‘The New EU in a Changed World: Enlargement, and Security’ event on Tuesday, December 12th, from 14:30 to 16:00 at the Helsinki Central Library in Oodin Maijansali. Following the event, there will be a networking session.
EU enlargement, which has been frozen for a long time, has received a new impetus after the start of the Russian war of aggression. Ukraine and Moldova have been approved as new member candidates exceptionally quickly, and several countries in the Western Balkans, whose negotiations have lasted for years, are also awaiting membership.
Enlargement seems to be high on the agenda of the next EU Commission and large member states such as Germany and France. What will the new EU look like in a changed world? How is EU enlargement related to European security?
The event will be led by experts, researchers, and members of parliament to discuss Finland’s positions on EU expansion and what the EU of more than 30 member states looks like and how this affects European security.
The event itself would be held in Helsinki Central Library Oodi on Tuesday 12.12.2023 from 14.30 to 16.45 EEST. Below you can find a proposition for the structure of the event.
