Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine has fundamentally reshaped Europe’s security landscape, putting the European Union’s (EU) enlargement policy into a renewed position of strategic importance. The war has underscored the need to enhance security and stability across Eastern Europe, where countries like Ukraine, Moldova, and Georgia, as well as countries in the Western Balkans, are particularly vulnerable to Russia’s influence.
This event addressed the priorities and challenges for the next enlargement wave and the work that the EU needs to carry out. It brought together representatives from the EU institutions, civil society organisations, social partners and think tanks focusing on EU enlargement, rule of law, European issues, and the Western Balkans.
The event was held in the European Parliament, Room ASP5E1 Brussels, Belgium.
