Council of Ministers 


Tuesday 17 February

Economic and Financial Affairs Council
Ministers will exchange views on the supplementary pensions package which aims to boost this sector in the EU. The Council will also be invited to approve conclusions on the guidelines for the 2027 budget which will serve as a reference in the coming budget cycle. Lastly, ministers will discuss the national escape clause under the Stability and Growth Pact (SGP) for Austria.

Kadis delivers opening remarks at the High-level Conference
Commissioner Costas Kadis will deliver opening remarks at the High-level Conference, Navigating Change: Towards the Energy Transition in the EU Fisheries and Aquaculture.

Zaharieva meets with Marcin Kulasek
Commissioner Ekaterina Zaharieva will meet with Marcin Kulasek, Polish Minister of Science and Higher Education, in Brussels.

Commissioner Jessika Roswall will meet with Carlos Cuerpo, Minister of Economy, Trade and Business of Spain, in Madrid.

Tzitzikostas meets with Deike Potzel
Commissioner Apostolos Tzitzikostas will meet with Deike Potzel, Head of EU Delegation to the UN, in Geneva.

Friday 20 February

Albuquerque meets Ana Cristina Tapadinhas
Commissioner Maria Luís Albuquerque will meet Ana Cristina Tapadinhas, Director- General of the Portuguese Association for Consumer Protection, DECO, in Lisbon.

Roswall meets with NGO’s
Commissioner Jessika Roswall meets with NGO’s, in Madrid.

Kadis meets with members of the National Parliament
Commissioner Costas Kadis will meet with members of the National Parliament, and will visit a fish processing and canned food production company and meets with fish processors, in Riga.

Stakeholder consultation on the draft opinion – Union Support for Asylum, Migration and Integration Management 2028-2034
In preparation of the CoR opinion “Union Support for Asylum, Migration and Integration Management 2028-2034”, rapporteur Arnoldas Abramavičius (LT/EPP), Councillor of the Zarasai District Municipality Council, will hold a stakeholders’ consultation to gather relevant insights on the proposal and its local and regional implications.

Cypriot Presidency 


Thursday 19 – Friday 20 February

Informal meeting of Trade Ministers
The Cypriot Presidency will host an informal meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council (Trade) to discuss the ongoing trade dossiers, including bilateral trade agreements, EU-China trade relations and the upcoming 14th World Trade Organization Ministerial Conference, in Lefkosia. The meeting will provide an opportunity to reflect on the priorities shaping the EU’s trade policy in light of evolving geopolitical developments and their implications for global trade and the resilience of supply chains.
