Weekly European Agenda 28/08/2023

As business resumes in the European Parliament this week, MEPs will discuss the Ukraine Facility Commission Proposal and they will debate on the EU’s Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) on Wednesday. Agriculture Commissioner Janusz Wojciechowski will visit Finland and meet with the Prime Minister as well as other stakeholders to discuss agriculture and forestry. Informal ministerial meetings on defence and foreign affairs will be help in Spain from Tuesday until Thursday.

European Parliament

The Ukraine Facility, the Commission’s proposal for a €50 billion initiative to support Ukraine’s recovery, reconstruction and modernisation from 2024 to 2027, will be discussed by members of the BUDG and AFET committees on Wednesday. On the same day, the BUDG committee will discuss the package to boost the EU’s Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF). AFET and SEDE committees' members will also hold an exchange of views on the situation in Niger. On Thursday, the AGRI committee will interview Commissioner Wojciechowski on the Black Sea grain deal and market situation.

Council of Ministers

On Tuesday and Wednesday, the Spanish Presidency of the Council will hold an informal ministerial meeting on defence in Toledo, Spain, while o Wednesday and Thursday, an informal ministerial meeting on foreign affairs will be held at the same venue.    

European Commission and High Representative

Commissioner Janusz Wojciechowski will visit Turku, Finland, and participate in the Europe Forum as well as meet with various Finnish representatives.
