Weekly European Agenda 09/09/2024
This week, a delegation of seven MEPs from the Committee on International Trade (INTA) will travel to Geneva for the WTO Public Forum to meet with key officials, including WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. From Sunday to Tuesday, the Hungarian Presidency will host the informal meeting of agriculture ministers in Budapest and nearby areas. On Wednesday, EU Commissioners are expected to unveil the State of the Energy Union Report.
European Parliament
On Monday, the Committee on Regional Development (REGI) will exchange views with Vasco Cordeiro, President of the Committee of the Regions, and Commissioner Elisa Ferreira on cohesion policy. On the same day, the Committee on International Trade (INTA) will exchange views with the Commission on the negotiations on the WTO plurilateral agreement on e-commerce and discuss the state of play of EU trade policy.
Council of Ministers
From Sunday to Tuesday, the Hungarian Presidency will organise the informal meeting of agriculture ministers in Budapest and nearby areas. Ministers will discuss a farmer-focused post 2027 Common Agricultural Policy Towards a competitive, crisis-proof, sustainable, farmer-friendly and knowledge-based future EU agriculture. From Thursday to Saturday, the Hungarian Presidency will host the informal meeting of economic and financial affairs ministers. On Friday, the Eurogroup meeting will take place in Budapest.
European Commission and High Representative
On Monday, Vice-President Margaritis Schinas will meet with Ararat Mirzoyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia. On Tuesday, Commissioner Vĕra Jourová will speak at the high-level debate on “AI and democracy: the new frontier of the EU”, while on Wednesday, Commissioner Olivér Várhelyi will meet with László Brenzovics, President of the Transcarpathian Hungarian Cultural Association, in Brussels.
