Weekly European Agenda 02/06/2025

This week, multiple European Parliament’s committee meetings will take place in Brussels to debate and vote on several issues. On Wednesday, EU Commissioners will gather in Brussels to unveil six initiatives: the 2026 Draft budget; the Water Resilience Package, the European Semester Spring package, the international digital strategy –Strengthening the EU’S leadership in global digital affairs, the temporary protection status for Ukrainians in EU and the Ocean Pact. On Friday, ministers in the Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council aim to adopt a recommendation for an EU Blueprint on cyber crisis management.



European Parliament

On Monday, the Special committee on the European Democracy Shield (EUDS) will have an exchange of views with EEAS on countering Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference (FIMI) in Ukraine. On the same day, the Committee on Public Health (SANT) will receive a presentation by the Commission of the Preparedness Union Strategy: reinforcing Europe’s resilience in a changing world. On Tuesday, the Committee on Security and Defence (SEDE) will have an exchange of views with Matti Maasikas - Managing Director for Europe, European External Action Service and Cosmin Dobran - Director for Peace, Partnership and Crisis Management, European External Action Service on the new EU-United Kingdom Security and Defence Partnership.  

Council of Ministers

On Thursday, the Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council will gather ministers to reach a political agreement with a view to adoption of the Council position at first reading on a proposed reform of current regulations with regards to air passenger rights and the liability of airlines. On Friday, ministers aim to adopt a recommendation for an EU Blueprint on cyber crisis management. 

European Commission and High Representative

On Wednesday, President Ursula von der Leyen will receive Teresa Anjinho, European Ombudsman, in Brussels. On the same day, Commissioner Jozef Síkela will receive Kerrie D. Symmonds, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Barbados, in Brussels. On Friday, Executive Vice-President Henna Virkkunen will meet with Clara Chappaz, Minister for artificial intelligence and digital technologies of France, in Luxembourg.
