Macroeconomic implications of the conflict in Iran
The EESC Section for Economic and Monetary Union and Economic and Social Cohesion (ECO) will host a public debate on the macroeconomic consequences of the renewed conflict in Iran. Against a backdrop of geopolitical tensions, energy market uncertainty, and slowing global growth, the discussion will focus on the impact of this conflict on Europe’s economic resilience, growth prospects, and external relations. Participants will explore potential effects on the EU’s strategic priorities, including the green transition, energy security, budgetary planning, and the Multiannual Financial Framework, highlighting how shifting geopolitical realities may reshape Europe’s policy agenda.

CIVEX external seminar – On the EU-Russia border: perspectives and challenges for the EU border regions
The Commission for Citizenship, Governance, Institutional and External Affairs (CIVEX) of the CoR, in partnership with the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship (Poland), will hold an external seminar focused on the EU’s Eastern border regions in the context of Russia’s war against Ukraine. The event will offer local and regional authorities a platform to share challenges related to geopolitical and security risks, foreign interference, and socio-economic pressures. Panellists from border regions, the European Commission, and the European Parliament will also discuss opportunities and best practices to promote regional development, resilience, and quality of life under these complex conditions.
