Monday 27 April 

Agriculture and Fisheries Council
The Agriculture and Fisheries Council will meet to discuss key agricultural policy issues, including the role of agriculture and sustainable forest management in wildfire risk prevention, following a presentation by the Commission, as well as the post-2027 Common Agricultural Policy proposals with a focus on income support. Ministers will also discuss the market situation, in particular following the invasion of Ukraine.

Social farming as a tool for innovation in agriculture
The EESC will organise a public hearing in Brussels on social farming as a tool for innovation in agriculture. The event will bring together representatives from academia, European institutions, civil society and EESC members to discuss the social and economic impacts of social farming, explore challenges to its development, and examine ways to better integrate it into EU policies related to agriculture, rural development and social innovation.

605th Plenary Session – 29-30 April 2026
The European Economic and Social Committee will hold its 605th Plenary Session in Brussels, bringing together participants for a series of debates with invited guests on topics including EU competitiveness in the current geopolitical context, LGBTIQ+ rights and the banning of conversion practices, supplementary pensions, innovation and startups, and the role of culture in Europe.

Committee of the Regions 


Monday 27 April 

8th COTER commission meeting
The CoR will hold the 8th meeting of its Commission for Territorial Cohesion Policy and EU Budget (COTER) in Brussels. The meeting will bring together members to exchange views on several draft opinions, including the Automotive Package, sustainable and connected transport, and the EU Agenda for Cities, as well as to discuss issues related to cohesion policy and gender equality.

First regional meeting dedicated to the Network of EU Local and Regional Councillors in Lombardy
The CoR will organise the first regional meeting dedicated to the Network of EU Local and Regional Councillors in Milan. The EU Local Dialogue, hosted by Matteo Luigi Bianchi, will bring together local and regional elected representatives to present the Network’s mission, governance and activities, and to discuss how to strengthen cooperation, share experiences and improve citizen engagement on EU priorities at local level.

Cypriot Presidency 


Tuesday 28 April – Wednesday 29 April 

Informal Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council (Maritime Affairs ministers)
The Cypriot EU Presidency will host an informal meeting of the Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council (Maritime Affairs ministers). Ministers will exchange views on current challenges and strategic priorities for the future of the maritime sector. A key item on the agenda will be the discussion of the Nicosia Declaration on Enhancing Seafarers’ Education and Promoting Women’s Inclusivity in the shipping industry.

Informal Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council (Transport ministers)
The Cypriot EU Presidency will host an informal meeting of the Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council (Transport ministers), bringing together EU ministers to exchange views on current challenges and strategic priorities shaping the future of the transport sector. A key focus of the discussions will be the strengthening of Europe’s transport infrastructure, including ports and rail networks, which is considered essential for ensuring secure supply chains, supporting the green and digital transition, and reinforcing the Union’s economic security. Ministers will also be invited to reflect on these priorities, while the Cyprus Presidency will seek to advance political momentum on the EU Ports Strategy.

Informal meeting of Telecommunication ministers
The Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union will host an informal meeting of the Telecommunications Council, bringing together EU Digital Ministers, Ministers from EFTA countries, and the European Commission to exchange views on current and emerging challenges in the digital and cyber sectors, with the aim of advancing Europe’s digital agenda. Ministers will open the meeting with discussions on accelerating the widespread adoption of trustworthy artificial intelligence across the Union. A second session will focus on strengthening the protection of minors online, including policy approaches and safeguards to ensure their safety and well-being in the digital environment. The programme will conclude with a working lunch dedicated to the protection of Europe’s critical infrastructures and the reinforcement of collective resilience in the face of evolving threats.
