The EU’s contribution to the second UN Food Systems Summit (UNFSS) Stocktaking Moment
This event will gather representatives from the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub, the European Commission, and from civil society organisations to explore the state of progress of the EU on the path to more sustainable, fairer and inclusive food systems, following the new actions agreed upon during the UN Food System summit in 2021 and the recent publication of the EC vision on agriculture and food.

Making Social Dialogue Work for Improved Quality of Life and Work in the Western Balkan Region
The European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Eurofound), the European Training Foundation (ETF) and the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) are jointly organising an event on social dialogue in the Western Balkans. This initiative, led by the EESC President and the directors of the two agencies, will focus on the quality of life and work, youth, and the exchange of experiences on social dialogue between the EU and the Western Balkans.

Friday 04 April

The role of trade unions in improving productivity
In the light of the political developments following the Letta and Draghi reports’ recommendations, the Workers’ Group is holding a debate on the issue of industrial productivity. The aim is to analyse, with the help of economic experts from academia and trade unions, different drivers of productivity growth, focusing also on the human side of productivity and factors that affect it such as wages and new technologies, particularly AI.

The European Committee of the Regions (CoR) is preparing an opinion on “Designing nature credits: A framework to promote biodiversity and ecosystem services “, led by rapporteur Rastislav TRNKA (SK/EPP) Chairman of the Košice self-governing Region and member of the Commission for the Environment, Climate change and Energy (ENVE) of the CoR.

Informal meeting of defence ministers
The informal Foreign Affairs Council with ministers of defence will focus on bringing about the rearmament of Europe and strengthening its defence industry in the current security situation. The ministers will also discuss continued support for Ukraine, and what role the European Union can play in ensuring a just and lasting peace. Other topics will include the broader geopolitical situation and conflicts in the Middle East.

FRA will host a foresight workshop that will bring together selected experts from EU institutions, Member States, academia and think tanks. It is part of a FRA project that aims to integrate a fundamental rights perspective into strategic policy foresight by the EU and its Member States.

Stakeholders reflect on progress under the Council of Europe’s child rights strategy
FRA will speak during the mid-term review conference of the Council of Europe’s child rights strategy (2022-2027). The event in Strasbourg looks towards a child justice system which guarantees the respect and the effective implementation of children’s rights.
