The Party of European Socialists welcomes the European Parliament resolution which strongly supports global climate ambitions ahead of COP26. The Resolution calls for all G20 countries to be climate neutral by 2050, for international climate finance for developing countries to be scaled up, and for all countries to revise their contributions every five years. Progressives are focused on securing meaningful global commitments from the international event.
Socialist and democratic MEPs – led forward by co-rapporteur and Chair of the PES Environment, Climate Change and Energy Network, Javi López MEP – today pushed to ensure the EU remains a world leader in the fight against climate change.
