This week, multiple European Parliament committee meetings will take place in Brussels along with a two-day plenary session, which will be held on Wednesday and Thursday. On Wednesday, EU Commissioners are expected to meet in Brussels to unveil the e-declaration for the posting of workers. On Friday, the Economic and Financial Affairs Council will meet to prepare the meeting of the second Conciliation Committee on the budget, with the aim of reaching an agreement with the European Parliament on the EU’s annual budget for 2025.
European Parliament
On Tuesday, the hearings of the Commissioners-designate will continue. The European Parliament invites Commissioners-designate to appear before the appropriate committees for hearings in order to scrutinise if they are suitable for the posts they have been assigned to. On Thursday, Members of the European Parliament will vote on a resolution on EU actions against the Russian shadow fleets and ensuring a full enforcement of sanctions against Russia. On the same day, Sauli Niinistö will present the report on how to enhance Europe’s civilian and defence preparedness and readiness.
Council of Ministers
On Friday, the Economic and Financial Affairs Council will meet to prepare the meeting of the second Conciliation Committee on the budget, with the aim of reaching an agreement with the European Parliament on the EU’s annual budget for 2025.
European Commission and High Representative
On Tuesday, Vice-President Margaritis Schinas will receive Marjolein Faber-van de Klashorst, Minister of Asylum and Migration of the Netherlands, in Brussels. On Wednesday, President Ursula von der Leyen will receive Michel Barnier, Prime Minister of France, in Brussels. On Friday, Commissioner Helena Dalli will deliver a keynote speech at the Empower Women Conference in Mgarr Local Council, in Malta.
