Section debate on Women and the Triple Planetary Crisis: Challenges and Opportunities
In the context of the European Gender Equality Week, the European Economic and Social Committee is organising a thematic debate during the meeting of its Section for Agriculture, Rural Development and the Environment (NAT) on 13 November 2024 (14:30 – 16:00 CET), focusing on the disproportionate impact of climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss on women and girls, and the critical role they play in advocating for solutions.

Organic food: good for farmers, workers, climate, and the environment
The European Economic and Social Committee in Brussels will host a pivotal event focusing on the benefits of organic food and the critical role of public procurement in advancing sustainable practices. This event, organised by Organic Cities Network Europe, the EESC and the Associazione per l’agricultura biodinamica, and in partnership with ICLEI, Buy Better Food, France Urbaine and IFOAM will bring together representatives from cities, national governments, and institutions to discuss the future of organic farming and its impact on farmers, workers, the climate, and the environment.

EU cities and regions at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP29)
The CoR will work towards the effective implementation of the decisions made at COP28, both within the EU and globally, with a view to making multilevel action a reality at COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, from 11 to 22 November 2024 and in future COPs.

Strictly protected areas in the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030
Organised in the framework of the Natura 2000 Biogeographical seminar process, the event intends to provide clarification on the target for “strictly protected areas” in the EU Biodiversity Strategy.

Annual General Meeting of the Fundamental Rights Platform
At this meeting, FRA will be looking at the fundamental rights goals and priorities of the European Union under the European Commission’s new mandate. Together with civil society leaders, the European Commission, and other European and international partners, they will identify ways how we can work together more strategically and effectively to deliver on these goals together.

Thursday 14 November – Friday 15 November 

Hate crime experts to convene at FRA
FRA and the OSCE’s Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) will hold a joint event for members of the OSCE’s national contact points network and the FRA-led EU Working Group on hate crime reporting, recording and data collection. The aim is to create synergies and facilitate the exchange of experience and practice on tackling hate crime.

EIB MSME Conference in Armenia
The European Investment Bank Group (EIBG) will bring together representatives from the public sector, the EU, banks and financial institutions, private sector and media for an interactive seminar to discuss how to promote green and inclusive growth in the Armenian micro, small and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) sector. The seminar will also present findings of recent EIB studies.
