Weekly European Agenda 10/11/2025

This week, multiple European Parliament’s committee meetings will take place in Brussels along with a two-day plenary session, which will be held on Wednesday and Thursday. On Wednesday, EU Commissioners will gather in Brussels to unveil three new initiatives: the European Democracy Shield, the EU strategy to support, protect and empower civil society and the Culture Compass for Europe. On Thursday, ministers in the Economic and Financial Affairs Council are expected to exchange views on the revision of the energy taxation directive.



European Parliament

On Monday, the Committee on Security and Defence (SEDE) and Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO) will discuss the acceleration of permit-granting for defence readiness projects. On Wednesday, MEPs will discuss the new 2028-2034 Multiannual Financial Framework. On the same day, they will also discuss the Gender Equality Strategy 2025.  

Council of Ministers

On Thursday, ministers in the Economic and Financial Affairs Council are expected to exchange views on the revision of the energy taxation directive. On Friday, ministers will meet to prepare the same day’s meeting of the conciliation committee on the EU budget which will aim to agree on the EU’s annual budget for 2026. 

European Commission and High Representative

On Wednesday, Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis will meet with Kristupas Vaitiekūnas, Minister of Finance of Lithuania, in Brussels. On Thursday, President Ursula von der Leyen will participate in the EP plenary debate on the conclusions of the European Council meeting of 23 October 2025, in Brussels. On the same day, Commissioner Glenn Micallef will meet with Dan Percuin, Minister of Education and Research of Moldova, in Brussels.
