Weekly European Agenda 24/11/2025
This week, Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) will gather in Strasbourg for plenary debates and votes on several issues, including on the European Defence Industry Programme and a framework of measures to ensure the timely availability and supply of defence products. On Monday, ministers in the Foreign Affairs Council will discuss the state of play of and prospects for EU-US trade relations. On Tuesday, EU Commissioners will gather in Strasbourg to unveil two new initiatives: the Bioeconomy Strategy and the European Semester Autumn package.
European Parliament
On Wednesday, MEPs will vote on a resolution on EU’s diplomatic strategy and geopolitical cooperation in the Arctic. On the same day, they will discuss the effective use of the EU trade and industrial policy to tackle China’s export restrictions. On Thursday, MEPs will discuss the outcome of the UN Climate Change Conference - Belém (COP30).
Council of Ministers
On Monday, ministers in the Foreign Affairs Council will discuss the state of play of and prospects for EU-US trade relations. On Friday, the Education, Youth, Culture and Sports Council will seek to approve conclusions on the strategic role of culture, cultural heritage and audiovisual works in upholding European values and democratic resilience.
European Commission and High Representative
On Monday, Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič will host a business roundtable and Implementation Dialogue on EU-US trade and investment relations with the participation of Howard Lutnick, US Secretary of Commerce, and Jamieson Greer, US Trade Representative. On the same day, President Ursula von der Leyen will participate in the opening ceremony of the EU-Africa Business Forum 2025, in Luanda. On Wednesday, Commissioner Apostolos Tzitzikostas will meet with Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Prime Minister of Greece, in Athens.
