This week, multiple European Parliament’s committee meetings will take place in Brussels to debate and vote on several issues. On Wednesday, EU Commissioners will gather in Brussels to unveil three new initiatives: the European Migration and Asylum strategy, the EU Visa Policy strategy, and the 2026 Annual single market and competitiveness report. On Thursday, ministers in the Foreign Affairs Council will discuss the latest developments in Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, after a short intervention of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha via videoconference. The Council will also discuss the situation in the Middle East in the light of the latest developments.
European Parliament
On Monday, the Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM) will have an exchange of views with Costas Fitiris, Cypriot Minister of Justice and Public Order, on the Cypriot presidency. On the same day, the Committee on International Trade (INTA) will discuss EU-US trade relations and the EUs response to latest US tariffs over Greenland. On Tuesday, the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) will discuss the EU Strategy for Civil Society. On Wednesday the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) will exchange of views with Dan Jørgensen, Commissioner for Energy and Housing, on the European Grids Package, and have a structured dialogue with Henna Virkkunen, Executive Vice-President for Tech Sovereignty, Security and Democracy.
Council of Ministers
On Monday, ministers in the General Affairs Council will hear a presentation of the priorities of the Cyprus presidency and will also hold a country-specific discussion in the framework of the annual rule of law dialogue. On Thursday, ministers in the Foreign Affairs Council will discuss the latest developments in Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, after a short intervention of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha via videoconference. The Council will also discuss the situation in the Middle East in the light of the latest developments.
European Commission and High Representative
On Tuesday, Commissioner Jessika Roswall will participate in the Agriculture and Fisheries Council. On the same day, President Ursula von der Leyen will together with President of the European Council António Costa, participate in the 16th EU-India Summit. On Thursday, Commissioner Marta Kos will participate in Foreign Affairs Council.
