Weekly European Agenda 13/04/2026
This week, several European Parliament committee meetings will take place in Brussels to debate and vote on key issues. On Monday, EU Commissioners will gather in Brussels to discuss an orientation debate on EU–China relations within the Security College framework. On Thursday and Friday, the Cypriot Presidency will host an informal meeting of Tourism ministers to exchange views on the tourism sector and coordinate on future priorities.
European Parliament
On Tuesday, the Committee on Security and Defence (SEDE) will focus on European defence readiness and strengthening capabilities, including the implementation of Defence Readiness 2030 and the outcomes of the March European Council. MEPs will also discuss financing defence through the EIB and review EU security and defence partnerships, including cooperation with Iceland, Australia, Ghana, and the EU–UK dialogue. On Wednesday, the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) will address the EU–Mexico strategic partnership agreement, alongside discussions on Iran. On Thursday, the Committee on International Trade (INTA) will focus on the EU–Australia trade agreement, EU–Malaysia trade relations, and the impact of US tariff changes on key EU exports
European Commission and High Representative
On Tuesday, Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis will meet with Joe Wilson, Congressman of the United States, in Washington. On Wednesday, Executive Vice-President Roxana Mînzatu will take part in a structured dialogue with the CULT Committee of the European Parliament in Brussels. On Thursday, President Ursula von der Leyen will meet with Mark Rutte, NATO Secretary-General, in Brussels.
