ROK-EU Intersessional Workshop
The ROK-EU Intersessional Workshop will bring together representatives from the EU and the Republic of Korea for exchanges on labour and environmental issues. Discussions will focus on responding to the climate crisis and protecting vulnerable workers, as well as the development of data spaces, providing an opportunity to share perspectives and strengthen dialogue between the EU and Korean sides.

Monday 31 August 

Stakeholders consultation on the “Skills for the Future” opinion
The SEDEC Commission of the European Committee of the Regions will hold a stakeholder consultation on the skills needed for the AI era. The consultation will provide an opportunity to discuss the role of local and regional authorities in developing STEM and AI-related skills, strengthening innovation and lifelong learning ecosystems, promoting AI literacy, and ensuring that the transition to an AI-driven economy benefits all territories.

The Freedom to Stay: Making Europe’s Islands Places to Live, Work and Thrive
Luca Menesini and the European Committee of the Regions, together with local partners, will host an EU Local Dialogue on the future of Europe’s islands. The dialogue will provide an opportunity to discuss the new EU Strategy for Islands and how measures on connectivity, public services, economic development and sustainability can strengthen island communities and ensure residents have a genuine freedom to stay.

Thursday 3 August – Friday 4 August

United by Rivers: Flow, Friction, Future conference
Rafał Trzaskowski, Mayor of Warsaw and Member of the European Committee of the Regions, will host an EU Local Dialogue on the future of urban rivers. The dialogue will bring together local authorities, experts, residents and river communities to discuss how cities can balance environmental protection and climate resilience with urban development, public access, recreation and sustainable tourism, while strengthening cooperation and identifying practical solutions for river restoration and governance.

Friday 4 August

The implementation of the European regulation on nature restoration (EU NRR) in municipal practice
The cities of Luxembourg, Metz, Saarbrücken and Trier will bring together local policy-makers, city officials and experts to discuss the implementation of the EU Nature Restoration Regulation. The event will provide an opportunity to examine how cities can protect, restore and expand urban green spaces, address implementation challenges and identify practical solutions for more sustainable and climate-resilient urban development.

Irish Presidency 

Monday 31 August – Tuesday 1 September

Informal Meeting of Defence Ministers (FAC Defence)
The Irish Presidency of the Council of the EU will host an informal meeting of EU Defence Ministers in Wicklow. The meeting will bring together ministers to exchange views on EU support to Ukraine, the role of space in security and defence, and current affairs including Lebanon and maritime security, while preparing upcoming decisions under the EU’s Common Security and Defence Policy.

Tuesday 1 September – Wednesday 2 September 

Informal Meeting of Foreign Affairs Ministers (Gymnich)
The Irish Presidency of the Council of the EU will host an informal meeting of EU Foreign Affairs Ministers in Wicklow. The meeting will bring together ministers to exchange views on current geopolitical developments, the EU’s role on the international stage, and key foreign policy priorities, while helping shape a coherent approach to the EU’s strategic goals and values.

Thursday 3 September – 4 September

Informal Meeting of EU Financial Counsellors
The Irish Presidency of the Council of the EU will host an informal meeting of EU Financial Counsellors. The meeting will bring together national experts and officials to exchange views on current EU economic and financial priorities and discuss issues relevant to ongoing work in the Council.

Informal Meeting of European Affairs Ministers (General Affairs Council)
The Irish Presidency of the Council of the EU will host an informal meeting of EU Ministers responsible for European affairs in Dublin. The meeting will bring together ministers, representatives from EU candidate and potential candidate countries, European Commissioners and members of the European Parliament to exchange views on the EU’s long-term budget, enlargement and strengthening democratic resilience.
