Weekly European Agenda 14/09/2026

This week, Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) will gather in Strasbourg for plenary debates and votes on several issues, including climate policy, defence readiness, the European Democracy Shield and the EU’s 2027 budget. From Monday to Tuesday, ministers responsible for cohesion policy will meet in Dublin to discuss the future design and funding of EU Cohesion Policy, while CODEV-PI delegates will exchange views on development cooperation and inclusive economic growth. On Tuesday, EU Commissioners will meet in Strasbourg to discuss child safety online and the fair labour mobility package. On Wednesday, President Ursula von der Leyen will deliver the 2026 State of the Union address at the European Parliament. On Friday, EU economy and finance ministers and central bank governors will gather in Dublin to discuss macroeconomic developments, financial stability and strategic economic priorities. >>

Weekly European Agenda 07/09/2026

This week, European Parliament committees will discuss, among other priorities, biotechnology, housing, EU-China relations, enlargement, innovation, energy and industry. On Monday, High Representative Vice-President Kaja Kallas will launch a High-Level Group on European Defence, while the Irish Presidency will host an informal meeting of EU Agriculture Ministers focused on sustainable, competitive and resilient livestock farming and food production. On Wednesday, President Ursula von der Leyen will exchange views with the European Parliament’s Conference of Presidents. On Friday, Commissioner Christophe Hansen will meet representatives of the French agricultural sector. >>

Weekly European Agenda 31/08/2026

This week, European Parliament committees will discuss, among other priorities, trade policy, public health, human rights, digital and energy policy, and the EU’s 2027 budget. From Monday to Wednesday, the Irish Presidency will host informal meetings of EU Defence and Foreign Affairs Ministers, with discussions covering support to Ukraine, security and defence, geopolitical developments and the EU’s international role. Later in the week, Financial Counsellors and European Affairs Ministers will meet to discuss economic priorities, the EU’s long-term budget, enlargement and democratic resilience. On Friday, President Ursula von der Leyen will chair a College seminar in preparation for the State of the Union address. >>

Weekly European Agenda 20/07/2026

No parliamentary meetings are scheduled in Brussels, as the week is set aside for external parliamentary activities. EU Commissioners will engage, among other priorities, on water cooperation, research and innovation, youth engagement, and climate and environmental issues. From Monday to Tuesday, the Irish Presidency will host an informal meeting of research and innovation ministers in Dublin, focusing on how research and innovation can support Europe’s competitiveness, security and prosperity. From Thursday to Friday, environment and climate ministers will meet informally to discuss long-term climate and environmental challenges, including decarbonisation and competitiveness, global environmental leadership, and circularity and resilience. >>

This week, European Parliament committees will meet to discuss, among other priorities, public health, international trade, security and defence, and files linked to the EU budget and future funding programmes. On Monday, agriculture and fisheries ministers will discuss the Irish Presidency’s sectoral priorities, while foreign affairs ministers will address Ukraine, the Middle East, the Black Sea and EU-UN relations. On Tuesday, ministers responsible for European affairs will examine simplification, the rule of law dialogue, the EU’s long-term budget for 2028–2034 and the “One Europe, One Market” roadmap. Later in the week, the Irish Presidency will host informal meetings on the European Peace Facility and justice and home affairs. >>
