How can taxation systems better support the social economy?
Taxation policy is a key element in promoting a vibrant, robust social economy in Europe. Well-placed tax incentives can encourage the creation of new social economy entities and bolster up existing ones, by ensuring that social economy entities can afford to operate alongside mainstream businesses. However, designing tax frameworks that are fit for purpose to promote the social economy is a challenging endeavour. In order to feed into the policy debate on the adequate taxation of social economy entities and to bring together the views of stakeholders and experts, the EESC is organising a public hearing entitled “How can taxation systems better support the social economy?”

Committee of the Regions

Monday 6 May

Towards the European elections: What challenges for Europe of the Future?
Ahead of the European elections, in a complex historical moment, characterized by conflicts, continuous changes and new challenges, local governments take on an even more decisive role: proximity to the citizen and the ability to closely intercept the needs of a community and represent it could be the keys to create a more aware and responsible government system. Organised with the support of CoR member Matteo Bianchi (IT/ECR), this EU Local Dialogue will address the major issues under discussion and the challenges of the future: citizen representation, green deals, security, global positioning of our continent and the future of the new generations, as well as the role and functioning of the European institutions.

Tuesday 7 May

Ragazzi Never Give up! L’Europa che cresce
This EU Local Dialogue is built around the themes touched upon in Letizia Barbetta’s recent book “Tornerò a volare” – temporary fragility, illness, moments of crisis and depression at a young age. CoR member Donatella Porzi (IT/Renew), together with scholars, local administrators and book’s author, will debate how having a community support network can create a protective shield for youngsters facing many challenges. The debate aims to reflect on the need to put in place some concrete and shared actions to support young people in fragile situations, to provide positive examples of such actions and to remind the audience that Europe also means this form of solidarity and support.
