Council of Ministers 


Monday 09 March 

Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council (Social policy)
Ministers will approve conclusions on child well-being and social inclusion and they will adopt guidance on human capital to address labour and skills shortages. Ministers will also exchange views on AI and quality jobs, debate approaches to preventing poverty and social exclusion, contribute to the European Semester and discuss housing during an informal lunch.

Tuesday 10 March 

Economic and Financial Affairs Council
Ministers will debate the EU savings and investment union and adopt Ireland’s medium-term fiscal-structural plan. They will also approve Estonia’s modified recovery and resilience plan, and exchange views on the economic impact of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. They will also review the state of EU financial services legislation and discuss recent macroeconomic developments, including the role of artificial intelligence in the future EU labour market.

Supplementary pensions to the benefit of EU citizens
The EESC will hold an online event on the Commission’s proposal to strengthen EU occupational and private pensions, discussing its impact on savings, national policies, and pension adequacy. The session will be free, webstreamed and with no registration required.

Thursday 12 March

Conference with social partners and civil society organisations from North Macedonia
The EESC will hold a conference at Europe House Skopje, North Macedonia, with civil society, social partners, and EU institutions to discuss North Macedonia’s EU accession, social dialogue, and the protection of civic space and media freedom. The event will conclude with remarks from the President of the EESC’s Western Balkans Follow‑up Committee.

The Future of Rural Europe: Making migration work for regions in decline
The Committee of the Regions will host a conference in Brussels marking the conclusion of the Horizon Europe-funded project PREMIUM_EU, which has examined impacts of mobility on regional development across Europe.
