Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN)
EU finance ministers are expected to agree on new rules to strengthen the fight against VAT fraud by granting EPPO and OLAF access to EU-level data. Ministers will also debate the market integration and supervision package, aimed at advancing the EU’s savings and investment union. They will review the economic and financial impact of Russia’s war against Ukraine and exchange views on the broader economic consequences of EU legislation. The Council is set to approve Denmark’s updated recovery and resilience plan under the EU’s post-pandemic recovery framework. Finally, ministers will be briefed on the outcomes of the recent G20 finance ministers and central bank governors meeting.

The CoR will host a Knowledge Exchange Platform seminar on research and technology infrastructures (RTIs). The Dunkirk Appeal – European Cities Actively Defending Europe’s Citizens and Founding Values
The Committee of the Regions and the Cities of Remembrance network will host “The Dunkirk Appeal – European Cities Actively Defending Europe’s Citizens and Founding Values.” The high-level event will highlight the role of European cities in defending democracy, peace and the rule of law in the face of growing geopolitical and societal challenges. It will also mark the adoption of “The Brussels Pledge”, a commitment by mayors and local leaders to actively uphold Europe’s founding values and strengthen democratic resilience at local level. The gathering will bring together local and regional leaders, EU institutions, civil society and youth to reinforce cooperation among cities committed to protecting European unity and democratic principles.

Youth conference – be local, think global!
Held in Ādaži, Latvia, this EU Local Dialogue will bring together young people with members of the European Committee of the Regions and the European Parliament. The event will explore how global developments affect local communities and highlight the role of youth in shaping policies at regional, national and EU level. It will provide a space for dialogue on democracy, European integration and everyday challenges, while encouraging active civic engagement and participation in EU decision-making.

The EU Local Councillors’ Network – Challenges and Opportunities
This EU Local Dialogue in Florence will bring together local and regional elected representatives to discuss the EU Local Councillors network in Tuscany and its development. The event will present EU initiatives and explore opportunities for cooperation, exchange, and stronger links between local actors and European institutions. It aims to support networking, civic engagement, and the role of local representatives in EU democratic processes.

Informal meeting of agriculture ministers (AGRIFISH)
The Cypriot Presidency will host an informal meeting of the Agriculture and Fisheries Council (AGRIFISH) in Lefkosia, Cyprus, at the Filoxenia Conference Centre. The agriculture session will focus on risk management, with ministers exchanging views on how to address growing pressures in the sector. Discussions will be informed by a World Bank presentation on “Solutions for Better Agri-Risk Management in the European Union.” Fisheries ministers will focus their discussions on the evaluation of the Common Fisheries Policy, reflecting on its performance over the past decade and exploring how it can adapt to the evolving needs of the sector.
