Monday 21 October – Tuesday 22 October 

Agriculture and Fisheries Council
The Council will seek to reach a political agreement on next year’s fishing opportunities in the Baltic Sea. Fisheries ministers will hold an exchange of views ahead of this year’s annual meeting of the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT). Agriculture ministers will also seek to endorse a set of conclusions on the future of the CAP post-2027.

Enlargement High-Level Forum
The EESC will welcome some 100 Enlargement Candidate Members (ECMs) in the Enlargement High-Level Forum “Towards successful EU Enlargement” jointly organised with the European Commission back-to-back to Plenary. This forum will gather high-level representatives from the European Commission, Member States, Candidate Countries and potential candidate countries. The event will highlight the role of social dialogue and civil society in progressing on the accession path, including the importance of upholding the EU’s fundamental values.

The Members of the Working Group and their guest speakers will be debating, among other topics, on: the state of play on Ukraine’s EU accession from the perspective of cities and regions, the involvement of the Ukrainian Local and Regional Authorities associations in Ukraine’s accession to the EU process, and the Training and Internship Programme Support for Ukrainian Municipalities (“TIPS4UA”)

Thursday 24 October

Disability Policies in Europe today: state of play of family carers, accessibility, employment, and early childhood intervention
In the run-up to the 29th October UN international day of care and support, this European round table will foster debate on the realities and support needs of family carers in the European Union today. It will shed light on the role of European frameworks to support families with disabilities and/or in need of care through robust community-based intervention models at the local and regional levels.

Friday 25 October

11th Subsidiarity Conference
The Subsidiarity Conference is a biennial event that seeks to strengthen the EU inter-institutional dialogue on subsidiarity scrutiny and to allow for a meaningful exchange between institutions and stakeholders involved in active subsidiarity and better regulation activities.

Monday 21 October

Event at EPLO office in Milan
The European Ombudsman will deliver a speech at an event hosted by the European Parliament’s Liaison Office based in Milan.

Tuesday 22 October

Visit to the European Food Safety Authority
The European Ombudsman will visit EFSA to meet with its management team and key departments, including Finance, HR, and Legal Advice units, to gain a deeper understanding of the agency’s internal operations. The visit will also include bilateral meetings with EFSA representatives and conclude with an address by the Ombudsman to EFSA staff.

Wednesday 23 October

Visit to European Training Foundation
The European Ombudsman will visit the European Training Foundation (ETF) to engage with its leadership and staff, gaining insights into the foundation’s structure and operations. The visit will include an introduction by ETF Director Pilvi Torsti, followed by discussions on transparency, accountability, and conflicts of interest within EU administration. The event will conclude with a recorded conversation featuring an interview with Ms. Torsti.

FRA Director joins EU UN Human Rights Office strategic dialogue
FRA’s Director will take part in the EU – UN Human Rights Office strategic dialogue on 21 October in Geneva. The UN Human Rights Office and the EU’s External Action Service organised the meeting. The High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk and the EU Special Representative for Human Rights Olof Skoog will jointly chair the meeting.

Thursday 24 October – Friday 25 October 

Launching FRA’s being Muslim in the EU report
FRA and the European Commission will host a workshop in Brussels to launch the Agency’s report on being Muslim in the EU. The workshop gathers around 30 civil society representatives, representatives of FRA and the European institutions, international organisations and relevant European platforms.

Seminar: Towards a Digital Clearinghouse 2.0
On 24 October, the EDPS organises a seminar to discuss with relevant stakeholders the concept note: “Towards a Digital Clearinghouse 2.0”. With this event, the EDPS aims to help shape the debate about the future of digital governance and effective enforcement in the digital world, by discussing the future of cross-regulatory cooperation and addressing the current governance fragmentation, both at European and national level.
